Do you agree with Zaslow? Why or why not? Is it fair to call today's young people the "Generation Me?" Why? Do we have a "praised" or "over-praised" culture in the United States? Does bolstering self-esteem improve or impair performance? Point to an exact passage and compare it to your own perception or experience. Read a comment posted by your classmate and respond to it. Include your first name or initials in your comment, so I can give you credit.

I wouldn't say it is fair to call today's generation "generation me" because needing appraisal or compliments does not make someone self centered. Frankly I think it makes our genertaion sound very insecure. It may be that standards are rising, and there are more and more young people becoming sucessful. The reason for constant praise may be, because there are higher standards to live up to, and as a young person we need to BELIEVE that we can live up to them. I thought that this passage said it very clearly:
"You need to recognize improvement. That might seem silly to older generations, but today, you have to do these things to get the performances you want," he says. Casey Priest, marketing vice president for Container Store, agrees. "When you set an expectation and an employee starts to meet it, absolutely praise them for it," she says.
I've learned about this through various classes, and starting with children at young ages you are supposed to PRAISE good behavior. If a child does something simple they look to you for encouragement, and you are supposed to give it to them. My question is what about the children that are not raised with constant compliments? I myself am one of those kids, and I was raised doing everything for myself. I didn't earn a grade looking to please anyone, but myself, and I hardly ever received appreciation from my family or any insinuation that they were proud of me. I do suppose that I look for that kind of compliment now, when I complete a class and receive a good grade. I'll take a compliment wherever I can get it, but I don't rely it on it to get by an ordinary day.
Yes, he is right they was a time, I wasn’t born yet. At that good old time as my father, explain to me they were a time when a person went colleges and university by the hope to change society and make a difference. They was the youth movement all over the world university and college student, protest and A common view of Ethiopia was an era in which King Haile Selasie the Ethiopia impir control weakened and prosperity diminished. Indeed, Ethiopia was suffered massive social strife, economic stagnation, and lack of educated population growth which placed an increasing strain on the country growth, and food supply wasn’t use effectually. Historians offer various explanations for these events, but the basic idea is that student movement was, over the course of the century, faced with internal problems and natural disasters which were simply too much for the antiquated the impir government, bureaucracy, and economy to deal with.
So student marched, closes down the street and protested endlessly until, the military step in and over throw the king. Now day you could buy, a protest shirt in shopping mall, and many of the youth, not only in America but every where, are me, me, me and me generations. So they go school not help the society or they country rather they go school to serve there personal needs. I give you a good example I voluntary at harborview hospital here in Seattle. They is a 2 hour oration were group of volunteers come to getter and are told about hospital policy and thought how to drive a well chair. So one of the supervisors asks everyone in group to explain, to why they volunteer? Every person in that room except me and one other young man “if I recall I believe he was in armed force” it will go like this: my name ABCDE, I am student at UW and the reason I am doing voluntary is because I want to be accepted in medical school, every body will repeat this passage whether it was medical school or nursing school. So when my turn came I told my name and told them the main reason I am voluntary is to help people and make difference, and stop so did they, and the older lady sit next to me who, “I thought had more sense in her”. She quietly asks me that real the only reason you want to voluntary.
