After reading the article on PBS, I learned a few new things. The question was who comes up with the criteria and codes that basically keep people from viewing or watching certain art. There were several different answers depending on the media of what you are watching. For videos rented at blockbuster, they only carry films that are Rated R and below, so they control to a certain extent who rents videos. For Audio, the recording industry of America has a voluntary warning system where you may see "parental advisory" stickers, or you may have tried to buy CDs with those on them when you were younger. As you can see there is constant monitoring, and there are different associations that come up with codes, and criteria for categorizing videos and music so that it is appropriate for viewers. It's interesting that they are at will to say what is appropriate for us, but I guess free-will only goes so far.
